Kent Winemakers International Medal Haul

Congratulations to Kent winemakers in this years IWC awards

Balfour Hush Heath has been awarded a gold medal by the International Wine Challenge (IWC) for its The Red Miller 2018 red wine, the first time an English red has claimed gold.

Only 5,000 bottles were produced and unusually it is made from 100% Pinot Meunier. The IWC described it as a “supremely elegant wine that charmed the judges”.

England came in third overall in the medals table for sparkling wine, achieving 26 medals, placing it behind sparkling wine nations France and Italy.

Kent's winemakers won an impressive 9 awards in total, including 6 for still wines, showing the variety the county has to offer.

Wines from Balfour Hush Heath, Chartham, Simpsons and Woodchurch were all winners - find out more here
